The Mental Health Community Coalition of the ACT (MHCC ACT) commend the joint funding boost from the Federal and ACT Governments for the community mental health sector in the ACT

Bec Cody, MHCC ACT CEO, states “We are starting to really see the impacts of the isolation and uncertainty as the pandemic take its toll on Canberrans. The funding which is being directed at the community mental health sector will be able to continue supporting those most vulnerable in the region.”

“Our member organisations in the community mental health sector have been informing us of the increased demand for services since the start of the pandemic. This current lockdown has seen this increase even further.”

“We were very pleased to see member organisations headspace and Meridian receive further funding under the Federal Government $2.5 million boost to support our young people and LGBTIQA+ community in Canberra.”

“We appreciate today’s announcement of additional funding for mental health services across the Territory from the ACT Government.”

“This increase in community sector mental health funding for the ACT will help support people during the current lockdown and we look forward to working with the ACT Government to ensure funding will be continued to support the community moving out of this lockdown and start to manage the ongoing mental health impacts of the pandemic.”

“This is a great time for the ACT and Federal Governments to look at their funding model for the community mental health sector moving forward.”
