Media release

The Mental Health Community Coalition (MHCC) of the ACT announces their new CEO, Bec Cody, will be taking the reins next week.

The MHCC ACT Board are excited about this new chapter for the peak body for non- government mental health service providers in the ACT, welcoming Bec Cody’s broad range of skills and warm leadership style.

‘Bec really impressed the Board with her background and experience. We are excited where she will take the organisation in her role as CEO,’ says MHCC ACT Board President, Yvonne Luxford.

Bec Cody is well known for her role as a Member of the ACT Legislative Assembly. What is less known about Bec is also her experience in mental health, aged care, justice and community safety both in parliamentary committees and as a public servant.

Her personal experiences also play a role in her focus for supporting Canberrans in need, and for breaking down the stigma attached to mental ill health.

Bec Cody says, “Speaking publicly about my own experiences with domestic violence and mental health issues reflects the knowledge that these critical issues can and must be spoken about to effect change.”

Bec Cody will join the team at MHCC ACT from 15 March 2021.
