Community Sector celebrates win as NDIS Independent Assessments are scrapped

Media release

The Mental Health Community Coalition of the ACT (MHCC ACT) pays tribute to the collaboration of the community sector in the face of success over the rejection of proposed NDIS Independent Assessment model.

Bec Cody, MHCC ACT CEO, states “Last week the community sector banded together to address concerns around the NDIS Independent Assessments. We are excited to see that our concerns have been heard and that the Independent Assessments will not proceed.”

“Together with the ACT Minister for Disability, Emma Davidson, ACT Council of Social Service (ACTCOSS), Advocacy for Inclusion, Carers ACT and ACT Disability Aged Carer Advocacy Service (ADACAS), we called on the Disability Reform Ministers to oppose changes to the NDIS. And we won”

“We are now looking to Senator Linda Reynolds, Minister for the NDIS, to hold to what has been called for and include a multi-partisan and person-centred co-design approach into the next steps for the NDIS reform.” Says Bec Cody.
