Workshop: Building services with capacity and capability to support people with co-occurring needs

August 6, 2025 @ 11:00 am - 2:30 pm

Join our second ACT Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs – Mental Health Alliance (ATOD-MH Alliance) workshop!

On 6 August, we will be exploring ‘Building services with capacity and capability to support people with co-occurring needs’.

This free workshop is targeting ACT mental health and alcohol and other drug sector executives, managers and directors, as there will be a focus on service design principles. However, ACT mental health and alcohol and other drug service delivery employees, other staff and organisations that have strong connections to these sectors are welcome to attend.

The event will include presentations and a panel discussion on topics relevant to the work of the Alliance, to build upon a movement for supporting the service system to work with co-occurring ATOD and mental health needs. The workshop event will also feature discussion groups, the launching of the ATOD-MH Alliance online community of practice portal and talks to the future of the Alliance!

There will also be catered networking opportunities throughout the event.

The workshop will be facilitated by the incredible Susan Helyar, who has extensive experience in the Canberra community sector, having been the CEO of ACTCOSS, interim CEO of Volunteering ACT and ATODA and a Board member of Care, Directions Health Services and Marymead CatholicCare. Susan is now a consultant helping non-profits with strategic planning.

We will be more announcing details of our agenda, speakers and panellists soon!
