Brief Alcohol Intervention Training for Community Workers in the ACT
March 27, 2024 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm

Description:
Do you want to learn more about alcohol and help your clients understand more about its harms and effects?
This half day Alcohol Brief Intervention Training is being conducted online via Zoom by the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Association ACT (ATODA) in partnership with the Youth Coalition of the ACT, ACT Shelter, and the Mental Health Community Coalition of the ACT, to address harmful alcohol use in the ACT.
We are currently looking for staff who work with clients who may be using alcohol in a risky manner and would like to learn more about delivering a brief intervention using the Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT).
This online training will expand your knowledge about alcohol-related harms and provide you with skills on how to use the AUDIT which was developed by the World Health Organization to screen for risky drinking. You will also learn how to provide feedback utilising brief intervention (BI) techniques to clients completing the AUDIT and how to support others to set goals for changing their drinking habits.
As part of the training, participants will receive the AUDIT screening tool and brief intervention brochure as well as a PDF of the training materials.
Places are limited to 25 workers. Tickets range from $40-$80
If you would like further information about the training please email: training@atoda.org.au
